HIGHGATE SCHOOL

Highate School was established in 1565 by a Royal Charter of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the First. The external appearance of the majority of the Senior School buildings originates from the nineteenth century. The School estate extends to Bishopswood Road.

Gilmartins have been working on projects since 2015 including refurbishing estate properties and heritage works within the main school chapel. We have also been involved in refurbishing properties for senior staff members including the Assistant Head Teacher

We were engaged to undertake the external redecoration and repairs to the Pre-Prep Building. The scope of works comprised the erection of scaffolding to north, east and west elevations, DOFF steam cleaning to brickwork (north, east and west elevations), preparation and redecoration of 26 windows, fascia’s, soffits, bargeboards, porch ceiling and rainwater pipes, Re-pointing to brickwork including front entrance steps all to be undertaken and completed within the school summer holiday break

Due to the location and nature of the site, delivery times were restricted and a project plan was created to ensure minimal disruption to local residents. Due diligence has ensured that the project was completed in a safe and professional manner, on budget and within programme with both parties delighted with the result.
